My father, Ding Zuyi, was born on August 29, 1939. Today is his 82nd birthday. It seems like he has been away from us for 9 years.
Every festive season we miss our loved ones more, and we feel sad on birthdays and death anniversaries. Today I remember my father with deep sorrow and great respect, recall the past, and commemorate his 82nd birthday.
He was born during the raging years of the Anti-Japanese War, and passed away just as he was on his way to the peak of civil society. His unfortunate fate sharpened his father's unique personality of never admitting defeat; his magnificent career sharpened his tough-guy quality of always challenging.
The time of more than 9 years is short, but the days and months of more than 9 years are long. Day and night of more than 9 years, I miss and respect my father more and more. It lingers in my ears, no matter good or bad times, whether happy or sad, I always feel that there are many endless topics to talk about with my father.
